Gerard Pique Pays Fine for Insulting Police Officers: Latest Details, Reaction
FC Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique has accepted a €10,500 fine levied against him for insulting police officers during an October altercation.
According to a Marca report, Pique insulted two officers after they fined his brother, who was alleged to have kept his car in a bus lane. The judge ruled that Pique "used insulting language in a haughty and derogatory manner," much of which was caught on video by onlookers.
As noted by The Independent's Tom Sheen, Pique alleged that the officers were only fining him because of his fame and because they're "broke and need the commission."

The ruling was initially given earlier this month, but Pique was taking his time to consider appealing the fine. Sources told Marca he will not appeal and has accepted the punishment. Following the event in October, Pique apologized for his actions on Twitter.
Barcelona have not commented on the situation at this time.
