Quinn Or Anderson: The Battle Continues

Watching Tony Romo last night justifies why Eric Mangini must and will take his time in naming a starter for this franchise.  Grant it, Dallas has won nothing in the past ten years or so just as Cleveland.  Romo lit the Titans up for almost 200 yards of passing offense in the first half alone.

Sure, we all say it is preseason, preseason.....for fantasy lovers Romo's shooting up the draft boards.

I'll admit I saw a little "Romo Mojo" from Brady Quinn in the preseason opener.

Has anyone thought about the difficultly Mangini is having naming a starter based on the fact that Braylon Edwards closes his eyes in traffic.  How can you name a starter when the star wide receiver keeps dropping the ball in game situations.

Or the fact that witnessing a defense that gets walked on coupled with numerous amounts of "three and outs".  It has been said that Cleveland will present a run oriented offensive attack this year.  No way, No how....historically Clinton Portis, Ricky Williams and Adrian Peterson all could have been a Brown.  For what ever reason this franchise has yet to solidify that position with pro bowl caliber talent.

Fortunately the overall wide receiver group for the Browns' is slightly better than average.  Someone is going to have to get these guys the ball in space.  Derek Anderson in practice has been sharp although he failed to carry it over in Green Bay.

Quinn was visibly ready for the challenge and showed it in his play.  Notre Dame/Green Bay same thing, the stage did not matter to him.  Which is good, only I will continue to be critical due to his inability to punch it in the end zone.

The preseason game against the Lions will be huge in a lot of ways.  Both Quinn and Anderson must outplay Matthew Stafford.  A rushing touchdown must occur, the Browns have proved that they can drop touchdown passes already.  More importantly, on defense an effort has to be shown on the field.  It is clear in the early portions of this season the team is not responding to Mangini's relic.
