TNA Creative Misses the Angle

Don DiabloAug 21, 2009

Since I like DVRing the wrestling shows just so I can fast forward through commercials and bad spots, I didn’t watch TNA Impact until tonight.

I must say that I’m surprised that TNA didn’t take the opportunity they presented at the beginning of the night to remedy the problem with having Kurt Angle as their World Champion.

If TNA management is looking for good press, then doing something to knock Angle down a peg or two was necessary.

Impact started with Matt Morgan came out and confronted the Main Event Mafia, especially Kurt Angle after the bad blood that seems to have arisen from Hard Justice.  In the end he was talked down by Angle and placed in a match teaming with Angle against Team 3D in a Tables Match.

With this set-up I was expecting a double-cross of Angle by Morgan, with Morgan putting Angle through the table and having Hernandez take the opportunity to use is “Feast or Fired” briefcase to capture the title from Angle.

Even TNA did a promo that suggested Hernandez was waiting for the best opportunity to use the briefcase.  What is a better opportunity then the world champion lying in a crumpled heap after going through a table?

In the end Matt Morgan didn’t turn on Angle and Morgan was sent through by Team 3D.  With this outcome it starting to seem that the owner of TNA, Dixie Carter, isn’t in control, Kurt Angle is.

Jeff Jarrett, the other co-owner of TNA, has been missing from TNA since Dixie removed him with allegation of Kurt Angle's ex-wife, Karen Angle, was living with him. That isn’t illegal, since the Angles aren’t together as a couple.

Angle was arrested Saturday for violating a no contact order, driving with a suspended license, and illegally carrying HGH.

This isn’t good press, but it seems TNA management really doesn’t care all that much, otherwise they would have done something about it during the Impact tapings.

All I hope is that by the next TNA pay-per-view, No Surrender, that this issue is resolved and Angle loses the title.
