Henderson, Jets Reportedly Agree to Deal
Tuesday, April 7
Dom Cosentino of NJ.com reported that Henderson and the Jets have agreed to a one-year deal.
On March 29, Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee reported, "Henderson also has a visit set up with the Jets, Chapman said."
Rotoworld's staff analyzed the scheduled meeting, stating: "Demario Davis and David Harris aren't in danger of losing their starting jobs at inside linebacker, so adding Henderson would merely be a depth signing for the Jets."
Henderson Meets with 49ers Following Private Workout
Sunday, March 29
"According to agent Jim Chapman, Henderson, 28, met with both general manager Trent Baalke and head coach Jim Tomsula during a Thursday visit," reported Matt Barrows of SacBee.com. "He also had dinner with linebackers coach Clancy Pendergast."
On March 23, ESPN's Josina Anderson first reported Henderson worked out for multiple teams over the weekend and that the 49ers showed interest:
San Francisco is looking for help at inside linebacker after the retirements of Chris Borland and Patrick Willis. Henderson, who turns 29 in July, has the potential to give the team a viable option on the cheap. The Chiefs previously worked out Henderson in January but declined to sign him to a contract.
"Signing [Henderson] would not cost the 49ers a compensatory pick for 2016 because the Vikings released him in 2013," added Barrows.
Henderson's Outlook
Monday, March 23
In 2013, Henderson made 112 tackles and four sacks as one of the leaders of the Vikings defense. He was released the following offseason after a DUI arrest and generated little interest on the free-agent market. The NFL suspended him four games for the violations last September.
Prior to his off-field troubles, Henderson had started 33 games over the previous three seasons in Minnesota.
