WWE WrestleMania 31: Stars Who Have Built Most Momentum on Road to Event

Donald WoodMar 24, 2015

WrestleMania is the stage many wrestlers are looking forward to all year, and the 2015 edition of WWE’s biggest pay-per-view has been highlighted by stars who have built momentum on the road to the event.

From Sting making his WWE debut and taking the advantage over Triple H to Bray Wyatt carrying the entire feud with The Undertaker on the mic, there are several storylines that have been built correctly leading into the PPV.

Here are the stars who have the most momentum heading into WrestleMania 31.

Sting

Arguably the biggest storyline at WrestleMania 31 is the WWE debut of Sting. As much as Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns is the main event, the match most wrestling fans are interested in is Sting vs. Triple H.

For years, Sting was the face of WWE’s top competition. From being the franchise player in WCW to making his mark with TNA later in his career, Sting has always been the star of the alternative.

Since making his debut in WWE last November at Survivor Series, Sting has been booked strong and has gotten the upper hand on Triple H several times. The former world champion looks dominant heading into WrestleMania, and wrestling fans can’t argue with the momentum he has built.

While there is a vocal portion of the WWE Universe that wishes Triple H looked like more of a viable threat to Sting during the build, the match will undoubtedly feature great in-ring storytelling and a satisfying outcome.

Bray Wyatt

One of the biggest stars during the Road to WrestleMania this year has been Wyatt. There have been few times in the past where a wrestler was leaned on as heavily as Wyatt, but the 27-year-old star has single-handedly carried a feud against The Undertaker.

The concept of leaving Undertaker off television until the WrestleMania PPV is an incredible idea that has added intrigue to the match, but it also leaves tons of weight on the shoulders of Wyatt to carry and progress the program every week.

Luckily for the WWE, Wyatt has taken the ball and run with it. Not only have his promos been as cryptic and creepy as ones we’ve seen from Undertaker in the past, but the stage has also been set for The Deadman to give Wyatt the ultimate rub and make one of the most popular stars in the sport.

Wyatt has plenty of momentum heading into WrestleMania, but the key for the WWE will be keeping him red-hot after the PPV. Proper booking leading into Extreme Rules and beyond is imperative to capitalizing on a feud with Undertaker.

Roman Reigns

The WWE has gone all-in on Reigns. After the company made it perfectly clear that he is the star of the future, Reigns won the 2015 Royal Rumble and went on to defeat Daniel Bryan at WWE Fastlane.

There is a portion of the WWE Universe that believes Reigns doesn’t deserve the main event spotlight due to his lack of skills on the microphone and in the ring. There is no doubt that he has improved, but with guys like Bryan, Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose possessing more talent, there were better options for this year’s main event.

Regardless of the perception of Reigns, the WWE has booked him with all the momentum in the world, and the most likely outcome is the challenger beating Lesnar and walking out of WrestleMania with the championship.
