Balotelli Suffers Knee Knock
Saturday, April 4
The Italian striker accrued the blow during training and did not travel with the Reds to the Emirates on Saturday.
The news was confirmed by Rob Harris of the Associated Press:
This injury represents another blow for Balotelli in what has been a wholly underwhelming debut campaign at Anfield. Since making his switch from AC Milan last summer, the 24-year-old has netted just one Premier League goal and has failed to make any kind of impact on Merseyside.
As we can see here, courtesy of Football Tweet, the former Manchester City star has been quick to answer his critics as of late, though:
Rumours continue to surface about the future of the tumultuous talent, per Spanish outlet Fichajes.net (via Jamie Sanderson of Metro), and it’ll be intriguing to see whether or not he has long-term prospects at Anfield.
But from the player’s point of view, making the occasional substitute appearance cannot be good for his development, especially as Balotelli is a striker who needs prolonged game time to find his rhythm.
