English Clubs Crash out of Europe in Spectacular Fashion, Memes Surface

It hasn't exactly been a banner year for English football in European competitions. 

In fact, as the last three English sides—Arsenal, Manchester City and Everton—crashed out of Europe in consecutive days, it was historical how fast England was no longer represented in the Champions League or Europa League.

When considering how successful English teams were in the latter part of the last decade, the performance is quite jarring.

Everton were England's last hope, but the Toffees couldn't hold the 2-1 aggregate lead they built at Goodison Park against Dynamo Kiev and were hammered 5-2 in the Ukraine.
