Hurricane Katrina: Oubre Jr.'s Tattoos Constant Reminder of What He Left Behind

Long before Kelly Oubre Jr. was a star on the hardwood, he had to deal with more adversity than most people will endure in their lifetimes.

Oubre Jr. and his father, Kelly Oubre Sr., left their home in New Orleans, Louisiana, for a brighter future when Hurricane Katrina destroyed their hometown. Oubre Sr. wanted to give his son the best opportunities to succeed, and they eventually landed in Houston, Texas.

Oubre Jr. became a monster on the basketball court and one of the top high school prospects in the country.

He has become a breakout freshman star for the University of Kansas and will lead the Jayhawks as they try to make a deep run in the 2015 NCAA tournament.

Oubre Jr. sat down with Bleacher Report to discuss his tattoos and why they are a constant reminder of where he came from and what he has been through.
