The NHL playoff race is really starting to tighten up, and there are only a few more spots up for grabs. There are four important matchups Monday night, including Montreal vs. Tampa Bay and Los Angeles vs. Arizona.

Los Angeles needs to pick up points to keep its playoff dreams intact, and both Montreal and Tampa are trying to secure a top spot in the division. With only four games, you will have to be careful about your picks, because you want to avoid choosing players who could cancel the other out.

As always there is a $50,000 salary cap to keep in mind, so here are some ideal lineup choices for March 16.

Jeff Carter has been one of the Los Angeles Kings' top players of late, and he could really break out against the Arizona Coyotes. Carter has 24 goals and 52 points in 68 games, and there is a good chance he'll continue his hot streak Monday night. He has six goals in his last 10 games and averaged 3.3 fantasy points per game during that span.

David Desharnais is a solid bargain pickup, and he's played very well as of late. The Canadiens center has six points in his last 10 games, and he'll provide value for $3,400. By spending less money on Desharnais, you can invest some cap space on other positions.

Wingers: Brendan Gallagher, Montreal Canadiens ($6,000) and Curtis Glencross, Washington Capitals ($4,800)

Brendan Gallagher is having a successful season for the Habs, and he's been very productive lately. The Habs' feisty winger has four goals and eight points in his last 10 games, and he's averaged 3.8 fantasy points per game during that span.

Curtis Glencross was traded at the deadline, and he has embraced his new life with the Washington Capitals. Glencross has 33 points in 58 games this season, and seven have come in the last 10 games.

The Capitals' top left winger has averaged 3.0 fantasy points during that span, and he should be a factor against the lowly Buffalo Sabres.

Defense: P.K. Subban, Montreal Canadiens ($6,500) and Jake Muzzin, Los Angeles Kings ($5,200)

P.K. Subban is in the midst of a career year in Montreal, and he's worth every cent of his $6,500 price tag. The Habs' alternate captain has an average of 3.4 fantasy points per game over his last 10 games, and he's also tallied eight points. Subban is playing some of the best hockey of his career, and he should be a factor against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Jake Muzzin is quietly having a solid season for the L.A. Kings, and he's tallied 33 points this season. Over the last 10 games, Muzzin has six points, and he's one of the better options available for action Monday.

Goalie: Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings ($9,000)

Jonathan Quick has played some of his best hockey over the last 10 games, and he is single-handedly pushing the Kings into a playoff spot.

Over the last 10 games, Quick is 6-3-1, and he has a 1.65 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage with two shutouts. He's been one of the hottest goaltenders outside of Carey Price lately, and he's almost guaranteed to shut down the lottery-dwelling Arizona Coyotes.
