Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network provided contract details, along with his analysis of the transaction:
As a 2011 seventh-round pick, the 26-year-old Gachkar carved out a solid stint with the San Diego Chargers to begin his NFL career. Over the past four seasons, he appeared in all but one regular-season game and made eight starts in the last two years.
Jordan Ross of CowboysHQ.com highlighted how dynamic Gachkar proved to be on special teams in 2014:
It's going to be important for Dallas' defense to play at a high level if it's meant to have a chance at successfully defending the NFC East title.
The Cowboys have watched NFL champion rusher DeMarco Murray go to rival Philadelphia, so their balance on offense may be thrown off by that move. Murray helped keep his unit on the field, as Dallas ranked third in time of possession, per TeamRankings.com.
America's Team has really prioritized bolstering the linebacker corps this offseason. In addition to acquiring Gachkar, Dallas has landed Keith Rivers and Jasper Brinkley. Cowboys star Sean Lee is also coming back after missing all of 2014 due to injury, and free agent Rolando McClain could still re-sign.
The presumption is that Gachkar supplies depth and has proved capable of starting on a part-time basis, which has often been the case with both Rivers and Brinkley to a degree.
