Saturday’s Marquee Result and Sunday’s Match to Watch

Djokovic is the top seed on the men's side, and he looked the part Saturday.
He easily steamrolled challenger Marcos Baghdatis in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, and took the first step toward possibly securing his second consecutive title at Indian Wells. Djokovic wasn't overpowering with six aces, but he won 82 percent of his first-service points and controlled the match from the opening set.
Djokovic also won four of five possible break points and ended any chance of an upset bid from Baghdatis.
SI Tennis noted that Djokovic had very little trouble in the first round:
While Djokovic played his way to an easy victory Saturday, fans will be treated to Roger Federer’s first match Sunday when he takes on Diego Schwartzman.
Schwartzman knocked off Jerzy Janowicz in a thrilling three-set match, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6, to set this showdown with Federer up, but securing a victory Sunday will be much more difficult. Outside of the fact that Federer is one of the greatest to ever lace it up, one has to wonder if fatigue could be an issue for Schwartzman after the emotional win over Janowicz.
As for Federer, he is already 11-1 with two titles on the 2015 calendar year. He discussed playing at age 33 and if there are any differences compared to his prime via ATPWorldTour.com:
"Not really, to be honest. I have a hard time remembering how I felt back in 2002. I was more insecure with my game. I was more worried about a bad day.
Today, I don’t feel like I have that many bad days anymore. Maybe sometimes you come out and it’s not working; that’s something that happened very few times in the years where I was very dominant. Otherwise, I feel like I am playing very well.
"
Federer is certainly playing well and just beat Novak Djokovic in the final of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. What’s more, he has dominated at Indian Wells throughout his career and is a mere three wins away from 50 match victories in the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
He also has four championships at the BNP Paribas Open throughout his career (2004, 2005, 2006 and 2012).

These two competitors have never played each other, so there is something to be said for the possibility of the element of surprise from Schwartzman.
Still, Federer owns this venue and is looking to hit a groove heading into the meat of the ATP schedule later in the year. It is difficult to envision anything but a relatively easy victory.
Prediction: Federer in straight sets
