According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Cox and the Titans came to terms on a contract:

Rapoport also reported that the deal will be for $15 million over three years:

Rapoport also added that Cox had four offers on the table but his visit to Nashville felt like home and sealed the deal.

Cox gives the Titans additional depth in the secondary, a necessity when you play in a division with Andrew Luck

However, it's questionable just how much Cox upgrades Tennessee's defense. He did have a career-high 18 passes defended and five interceptions with San Francisco last year.

A lot of Cox's success in 2014, per Jeff Deeney of Pro Football Focus, came early in the year:

As long as Cox isn't asked to lead a secondary, which he often had to with the 49ers last season due to injuries, he can be a valuable role player.

The Titans are certainly trying to get better this offseason, though they didn't play in the expensive part of the free-agent pool. Finding bargains is the best way to succeed, which could make Cox a strong, underrated addition.
