Sports Fans Getting Wrecked

Nick DimengoMar 16, 2015

As sports fans, it's important for us to be as close to the action as humanly possible, doing whatever we can in order to sneak up to seats that have the best view of the game at hand.

That's not always a good idea, though.

With athletes being bigger than ever, finding yourself in the first couple of rows during an event can end in disaster, with minor injuries occurring should you get wrecked.

Oh, and for those who want to run onto the playing surface in hopes of avoiding security? Yeah, I would suggest otherwise, because you're getting run down.

For those who either can't see a 250-pound player coming their way or find a way to avoid a handful of security guards, here is your fate. These are sports fans getting wrecked.

Blake Griffin Baptizes Fan

1 of 14

For all you trash-talking hecklers out there, this one's for you—even if it's not physical pain.

Who knows if this Golden State Warriors fan was really giving the business to Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin or not during last year's playoffs. One thing that did happen, though: Griffin took any frustration he had out on the Dubs fan.

Frustrated after fouling out, Blake owned the guy by tossing a full cup of water on him, punking him out in the process.

For being soaking wet, the fan did get a towel and the cup as a souvenir—and his team won Game 1 in the playoff series—so that's some consolation, I assume.

Grown Man: 1, Little Girl: 0

2 of 14

It's too bad there wasn't anyone who could have intercepted this Kansas City Royals fan from charging into a young girl while going for a home run ball.

After all, not only does he bowl her over, but he earns the worst fan award in doing so.

Injuries in sports occur all the time. But when it happens because a jackass wants a souvenir as badly as this guy, they're less hard to swallow.

I hope the girl got to keep the ball, at least.

Attention: There's a Flying Bat Coming Toward You

3 of 14

While I never want to laugh at another person's misfortunes, I can't help but chuckle at this St. Louis Cardinals fan.

That's because everyone in his section was aware of the fact that a bat that slipped out of A.J. Pierzynski's hands was helicoptering toward him—well, except him, of course.

Luckily having his girlfriend—or guardian angel—sitting next to him, he was able to avoid getting smacked directly in the face, with him taking a little bump on the top of the head.

I would really like to know why this guy was sitting a few rows behind the dugout and not watching the game.

Shirtless and Bruised

4 of 14

If there's one place you don't want to be, it's shirtless on the turf of a football field after making the bad choice of interrupting play by running onto the gridiron.

When it does happen to a person, though, it provides a hilarious video.

Somehow getting onto the field during the Fresno State-Nevada football game a few years ago, a security guard made sure this fan knew exactly what it was like to take a hit during a game, taking him down with a massive spear before cuffing him.

Might Want to Bring a Glove Next Time

5 of 14

I may be on the record as saying that no grown man should bring a baseball glove to a game, but after seeing this, I might reconsider my stance.

Sitting in left field during a Los Angeles Dodgers batting practice, this guy—who left with an instant swollen and black eye—sure hoped he had something other than his bare hands, or face, to snag a ball.

Taking a bad bounce off of the bleachers, he got the worst of this fly ball—which he didn't even get to keep even after other fans pleaded to give it to them.

VIP Service from Blake Griffin

6 of 14

Unlike the other Blake Griffin instance on this list where he owned a fan by pouring water over his shoulder, the Los Angeles Clippers forward found himself drenched in some beverages himself during a game a couple of years ago.

Diving into the front-row seats for a loose ball, Blake got more than he bargained for, not only causing a mess with food and beer flying, but going head first like a raging bull into a female fan.

Thankfully, everyone was smiling afterwards, because this could have been a little bit uglier.

James Harrison's Piledriver

7 of 14

If there's one thing sports fans know about former Defensive Player of the Year James Harrison of the Pittsburgh Steelers, it's that he is one bad dude.

Seeing as how he makes no qualms about talking down to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Harrison should never be messed with.

When a Cleveland Browns fan rushed the field a few years ago, he found that out firsthand.

Getting slammed to the frozen turf during a December game, the guy may have said the bodyslam from Harrison didn't hurt, but he was probably crying inside.

Big Baby Davis Is Another Kick in the Head

8 of 14

When a man as big as Glen Davis is falling toward you, there should be something in the brain that tells your feet to move the hell out of the way.

It's too bad that this young Atlanta Hawks' fan wasn't able to react quickly enough, though, as he just sat in his courtside seat and got a lap full of Big Baby.

Not only was the big man on top of him, but the youngster got a swift kick to the dome, too, no doubt leaving him a little battered and bruised.

On the positive side, I'm sure the kid was the hit of his middle school math class the next day—so there's that.

Don't Mess with Another Man's Teammate

9 of 14

Here's another dummy fan who thought he could get away with rushing the court during a basketball game. This European fan didn't just run onto the hardwood and dance around, though, because he actually shoved the free-throw shooter while on the floor.

As you might imagine, the player's teammate didn't take kindly to the act, shoving the fan in retaliation with the skirmish extending to behind the basket and causing a 15-minute delay.

For what it's worth, the fan should have been decked even harder than he was for pulling some crap like that.

Alabama Fan Gets Littered

10 of 14

For all those sports fans who, for some reason, think that it's fun to toss stuff from the stands, it might be time to find the nearest trash can to dispose of your trash—and this video is the reason why.

Following his Alabama Crimson Tide getting upset last fall by the Ole Miss Rebels, one Tide fan came crashing down like a tidal wave after showing his displeasure for the loss, with a nearby cop avoiding just writing the dude a citation for littering and taking him out instead.

Not sure if the cop has any years of eligibility left, but if so, the Rebels might want to consider giving him a scholarship to play linebacker—the guy has some solid tackling form.

Mason Plumlee Will Get the Next Round

11 of 14

Of all the collisions between basketball players and those holding food or beer, Brooklyn Nets forward Mason Plumlee's has to be the worst outcome.

Sure, being a paying fan in the expensive seats and getting soaked by an adult beverage or three is never fun, but Plumlee took out an entire meal when he hit this Washington Wizards server earlier this year, causing a volcanic-like eruption of snacks all over fans, the server, himself and the court.

Try as he might, Plumlee just couldn't prevent himself from bumping the unassuming girl, which could have been a lot worse.

The Ohio State University's Tackling Dummy

12 of 14

So you're a sports fan who wants their 15 seconds of fame to come from rushing the field, huh?

After watching this kid get nailed to the ground by former linebacker and current Ohio State Buckeyes strength-and-conditioning coach Anthony Schlegel, you may want to reconsider.

Rushing the field during any sporting event is always a poor idea. Doing so and ending up with a former NFL player and cop on top of you makes the idea a near death wish—as was the case with this OSU student.

Big Baby Davis Sits on Her Face

13 of 14

I showed the video of Los Angeles Clippers forward Glen Davis kicking a poor fan in the face earlier, but, believe it or not, this one is even worse.

Generously listed at 289 pounds, Big Baby is anything but a baby, with a massive body index that should scare anyone in his way.

So when he found himself giving a Phoenix Suns fan a mouth full of his, um, big-baby booty, she was probably terrified for not only having a terribly sweaty pro athlete fall on her.

Big Baby can now say, "Tell me how my ass tastes!"

Shaquille O'Neal's Perfect Belly Flop

14 of 14

The only thing that can be worse than having Glen Davis fall on you or a baseball bat nearly knocking you out is having former NBA All-Star Shaquille O'Neal fall on you.

Unfortunately, that's what a few fans who thought they were safe experienced years ago while Shaq was playing for the Phoenix Suns.

You've got to hand it to the big fella for giving 110 percent effort for this rebound—except if you ended up beneath him as a person who broke his fall.
