Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on the financial details:
Ayers played for the Super Bowl-winning New England Patriots in 2014 and the Tennessee Titans in the first three seasons of his career (as well as two games in 2014).
Despite having some talented pieces on the roster, the Rams were middle-of-the-road on defense last season and are looking to improve on that side of the ball before the 2015 campaign starts. In fact, they finished 19th against the pass and 14th against the run and will need to be better to compete in the difficult NFC West in 2015.
One potential concern with Ayers is his durability considering he played in only 11 games last year between Tennessee and New England. However, he didn’t miss a single contest from 2011-13, so that may not be an issue.
Ayers will provide solid depth for St. Louis at the linebacker position and should help it improve on the defensive side next season.
