Baltimore Sun: Ravens Exploring Chandler Market
Thursday, March 12
According to Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun, the Ravens have been kicking the tires on adding Chandler to their offensive mix:
"The Ravens have interest in former Buffalo Bills tight end Scott Chandler, according to league sources.
...
He was cut by the Bills to create $2.25 million in salary-cap space. He was due a $1.95 million salary, and a $250,000 roster bonus was due to Chandler on Friday.
"
Wilson also notes that the Ravens are in the mix for another tight end, either through free agency or in the draft, as team officials met with Minnesota's Maxx Williams at the scouting combine.
Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com wrote that Chandler would fit nicely with Baltimore's offense needing "a pass-catching tight end and he's the best one on the market right now."
The team lost Owen Daniels to Denver in free agency and will await to see what Dennis Pitta is capable of doing after playing in just four games in the last two years. Chandler will be 30 in July and has had at least 43 catches in each of the last three years.
Given what the Ravens have lost this offseason, including Daniels and Torrey Smith, this team is in need of some help on offense if it hopes to make another playoff run in 2015.
