The 14-1 chance produced a magnificent display of front-running to give jockey Gavin Sheehan and trainer Warren Greatrex their first Festival wins.

Owned by Jill and Robin Eynon, the six-year-old stayed on up the hill to win by 3.5 lengths over favourite Saphir Du Rheu.

Sheehan, the 21-year-old from Dunmanway in West Cork, was delighted after the performance:

Vautour made it look effortless as he cruised to victory in the opening Grade 1 renewal of the afternoon, the JLT Chase.

The favourite, under Ruby Walsh, came home 15 lengths clear of Apache Stronghold.

It was the sixth win of the Festival for trainer Willie Mullins and the fourth for jockey Walsh.

The six-year-old is likely to be aimed at next year's Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Andrew Tinkler was under the 9-1 shot, who carried just a five-pound penalty, in the Listed Handicap Hurdle.

One-and-three-quarter lengths was the margin of victory for the horse who was an easy winner on good ground at Doncaster two weeks ago.

AP McCoy claimed an emotional win on his Cheltenham Festival farewell, as the 19-time champion jockey took the Ryanair Chase on Uxizandre.

The 16-1 chance held off the Henderson-trained Ma Filleule to win by five lengths after a brilliant front-running ride from McCoy.

The JP McManus-owned seven-year-old gave McCoy his third win in the Grade 1 renewal.
