Liverpool Transfer News: Major Memphis Depay, Dani Alves, Sami Khedira Rumours
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is a "huge fan" of PSV Eindhoven starlet Memphis Depay, according to Graeme Bailey of Goal.com.
Bailey suggests the Reds boss "will rival any offer" proposed by Manchester United and Tottenham in order to lure Depay away from the Eredivisie. He is certainly a player who fits into Liverpool's current mould: The 21-year-old possesses rapid pace, is clever on the ball and has an eye for goal. He is the Dutch division's top scorer with 16, per Sky Sports, ensuring he will attract the attention of many.
United remain among the candidates to sign him due to the player's relationship with boss Louis van Gaal. Depay was brought into Van Gaal's Netherlands line-up for the 2014 World Cup, in which he proved himself a versatile, quality youngster on the elite stage.

Football writer Elko Born recently tweeted further information on the pair's relationship:
Sticking with Twitter, Depay was recently seen to favourite a story mentioning his potential move to Old Trafford, reported by the London Evening Standard. An account named "@PSVULTRAS" posted the story that grabbed Depay's attention.
Sport Witness confirmed he quickly unfavourited the tweet, however:
PSV director Toon Gerbrands recently admitted Spurs offered €20 million for Depay in the summer, per Richard Jolly of ESPN FC. He expects the club to come under "great pressure" to sell him at the end of the season.
In February, PSV boss Phillip Cocu admitted he holds little hope of keeping the player, per Sport Express (h/t Aaron Flanagan of the Mirror): "At some point, it becomes clear that he is ready for the next step. And yes, I think he's going to leave PSV after this season."

Rodgers is reportedly considering various options across the board for Liverpool.
Paul Brown of the Mirror believes the side must confirm a top-four spot to be in with a chance to sign Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, who is destined to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season. Brown notes Khedira's wage demands remain a "major obstacle" for Liverpool.
Catalan newspaper Sport (h/t Simon Osborn of the Metro) reports the side have made an attempt to sign Barcelona right-back Dani Alves, who can also move on a free in the summer. United and Paris Saint-Germain are expected to chase Alves' signature, with reports suggesting Alves has agreed a deal with the former, per Ed Malyon of the Mirror.
Should Liverpool fail to land the Brazilian, Mark Douglas of the Chronicle Live outlines Daryl Janmaat as an alternative. The Merseyside club have "run the rule" over Newcastle United's creative right-back, per Douglas.
Interestingly, none of the players mentioned would make it into Liverpool's dream lineup for the 2015-16 season, according to B/R UK's Sam Tighe:
It appears Rodgers has a busy summer ahead of him. He worked avidly to overhaul Liverpool's squad last summer and can be expected to continue in similar fashion at the end of the season.
Players such as Depay, Khedira and Alves would represent top-class signings for the Reds, who are currently two points short of the Premier League's much-coveted fourth spot. Capture that, and the signing of each becomes far more likely.
