Cleveland Cavaliers vs. San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview, Game Stats

OddsShark.comMar 11, 2015

The San Antonio Spurs have started to make their move up the Western Conference standings, bringing a six-game winning streak into Thursday's home matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Spurs went 5-1 against the spread during that stretch, and they have seen the total go over in each of their last three games and five of their past seven outings.

While the Spurs did get a brief scare when Tim Duncan suffered a hyperextended elbow Tuesday, they are expected to have him in the lineup as they attempt to win their seventh game in a row.

Duncan was injured late in a 117-107 victory against the Toronto Raptors, but the team still managed to cover the spread as a seven-point home favorite on the NBA betting lines.

Kawhi Leonard led the winners with 24 points while Tony Parker continued his strong play with 23 points. Parker is now averaging 26.3 points in the last three games.

The Spurs have won their past 10 meetings with the Cavaliers and gone 8-2 ATS in those games, according to the OddsShark NBA Database, but Cleveland star LeBron James was a member of the Miami Heat for most of that span.

James has still had trouble against San Antonio, though, getting swept in the 2007 NBA Finals and then splitting the last two league championship series when he was with the Heat.

The Cavaliers visit the AT&T Center as winners of 22 of their past 27 games following a 127-94 rout of the Dallas Mavericks Tuesday to easily cover as four-point road favorites.

James became Cleveland's all-time assists leader by dishing out eight to his teammates while also scoring a game-high 27 points. Those assists helped three other starters for the Cavs score over 20 points—Kevin Love (21), Kyrie Irving (22) and J.R. Smith (21).

Meanwhile, the Mavs did not have one player score more than 18 points in the loss.

Thanks to that Cleveland victory, the Spurs passed Dallas for third place in the Southwest Division standings and sixth place in the Western Conference. San Antonio sits at 15-2 in the odds to win the 2015 NBA championship compared to 21-10 for the Cavaliers, who have vaulted over the Golden State Warriors as the overall favorite.
