Randy Starks Released by Dolphins: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
In a move almost certainly meant to make room for all-world superstar Ndamukong Suh, the Miami Dolphins announced they released defensive tackle Randy Starks on Wednesday.
ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news:
The 31-year-old veteran is a two-time Pro Bowler, and he has spent the past seven years with the Dolphins, playing essentially everywhere along the defensive line. His ability to do that should make him a sought-after commodity on the open market, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com:
Starks is coming off of a campaign that saw him start 15 games for the Dolphins and rack up 4.5 sacks on one of the NFL's best defensive lines.
That line is set to get even better with the addition of Suh, but there is no question that Starks was a huge part of the defensive success Miami enjoyed in recent years.
He is the type of player who can fit into almost any system, and he has proven to be extremely durable, missing just one game over the past seven seasons.
Starks is never going to be a contributor of Suh's caliber, but he should have an opportunity to show the Dolphins what they missed out on by cutting him.
