King JAug 19, 2009

HBO's Boxing After Dark returns this Saturday with an exciting triple-header from Houston, Texas.

The night kicks off with fast rising knock out prospect Danny Jacobs (17-0, 15 KOs) vs. Ishe Smith (21-3, 9 KOs) in a ten-round middleweight bout.  Jacobs's 15 KOs all came via first round knockout.

The co-main event features the super featherweight title bout of Malcolm Klassen (24-4-2, 15 KOs) of South Africa defending his belt against Gilroy, California native Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (24-1-1, 17 KOs).  Guerrero is a two-time featherweight champion looking to move up and maintain his high KO percentage record.

Then, in the main event, Houston's very own Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz (34-2, 17 KOs) fights Brooklyn's Paul Malignaggi (26-2, 5 KOs) in a scheduled 12-round junior welterweight bout.  Both Malignaggi and Diaz are former champions looking to make a statement that they are back from their recent high profile losses.

Diaz now is a college graduate and is ready to redeem himself from his exciting action-packed loss to top pound-for-pound fighter Juan Manuel Marquez.

HBO will also honor the recently deceased boxing stars Alexis Arguello, Arturo Gatti and Vernon Forrest.

HBO's Boxing After Dark is presented Saturday, Aug. 22 at 9:45 p.m. (ET/PT) and 8:45 p.m. CT from the Toyota Center in Houston, exclusively on HBO.  The HBO Sports team of Bob Papa, Lennox Lewis and Max Kellerman will be ringside for the event, which will be available in HDTV, closed-captioned for the hearing-impaired and presented in Spanish on HBO Latino.
