Real Madrid Transfer News: 'Secret' Paul Pogba Deal Struck, Latest Rumours

Christopher SimpsonMar 10, 2015

Real Madrid have reportedly struck a "secret deal" with Juventus to sign wonderkid Paul Pogba.

According to Fichajes.net (via Jamie Anderson of the Daily Star), £80 million-rated Pogba has been promised to Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti looking to offload some of his midfielders to make way for the France international.

The 21-year-old is considered to be one of the finest talents in world football and would be a fine addition to any squad, even Real's.

Pogba's agent Mino Raiola told the Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t BBC Sport) in January that Pogba would leave Turin in the next two years: "If Paul leaves Juventus, it is for the absolute top. If it does not happen this year, it will be next year. Paul is the only major star who is available at the end of the season. If you cannot take Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi or Zlatan Ibrahimovic, you can only go for Paul."

Pogba has caught the eye since departing Manchester United in 2012 with a series of energetic, hardworking displays in the centre of the park. Pogba has also added drive and creativity to his game, as shown by his return of nine goals and four assists in all competitions this season (h/t WhoScored.com), including this beautiful volley against Sassuolo on Monday:

Real have struggled of late in part due to their struggles in midfield. With injuries to key players like James Rodriguez and Luka Modric compounding the absence of Xabi Alonso, Los Blancos' midfield, for all its talent, is lacking physicality and ideas, as noted by Guillem Balague of Sky Sports.

Pogba is the perfect fit. With his magnificent balance of physical presence and flair, the Frenchman is just the injection that Madrid need. His capture would send out a powerful statement to their title rivals, particularly in light of Barcelona's current transfer ban.

Madrid have also been linked with FC Porto right-back Danilo.

According to Alejandro Cardenas of AS, Portuguese newspaper A Bola are reporting that a €30 million, five-year deal has been agreed between the two clubs for the Brazilian's services and that the transfer will be made official on July 1.

Danilo's current deal expires in 2016, and Porto have a history of selling their stars for big money.

The sought-after defender would be a strong signing for Los Blancos.

The right-back position is arguably Madrid's weakest area, with first-choice Daniel Carvajal the only long-term option there. Alvaro Arbeloa, never a world-beater even at his peak, is now 32, while Nacho is fine as cover but hardly a top-quality option.

Danilo is a young, exciting full-back, with four goals to his name this season per WhoScored, including a penalty in Porto's last Champions League outing.

If Madrid are set to acquire both these talents, they will have as complete a squad as it's possible to have.

With Barcelona's transfer ban and Atletico Madrid's constant risk of losing their stars to bigger sides, Real can take a huge step toward continued domestic and European success.
