Will Blackmon to Seahawks: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction

It didn't take cornerback Will Blackmon long to find a new team after the Jacksonville Jaguars cut him this offseason, as the Seattle Seahawks have signed the veteran.

Blackmon, 30, had a solid season for Jacksonville in 2014, but with young corners in Aaron Colvin, Demetrius McCray and Dwayne Gratz already on the roster that the Jaguars really like, he became expendable. Blackmon finished the season with 30 tackles, a sack an a forced fumble.

He'll not only give the Seahawks much-needed depth at corner after the reported departure of Byron Maxwell to the Philadelphia Eagles, per CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, but he can fill in as a return man if needed. 

No, it isn't one of the sexier moves in the offseason, but it's a smart move for a team that seems to hit in free agency and the draft far more than it misses. It would hardly be surprising if Blackmon ended up playing a very important role for the team in 2015.
