
Alex Okafor Arrested: Latest Details, Mugshot and More on Cardinals OLB
Arizona Cardinals linebacker Alex Okafor was arrested and charged Monday morning after evading police following a disturbance in Austin, Texas.
Brian Davis and Tony Plohetski of Statesman.com provided a synopsis of police spokesman David Boyd discussing Okafor's arrest:
"Police spokesman David Boyd said officers responded to a disturbance in the downtown entertainment district and that when they attempted to question Okafor, he fled on foot. Officers booked Okafor into the Travis County Jail around 2 a.m. today.
Boyd said he did not have additional information on the disturbance that led to the police involvement.

"We are aware of the report and are in the process of gathering all of the details regarding the situation," the Cardinals said in a statement, per ESPN.com's John Weinfuss. Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com also stated he "had a warrant out for a previous misdemeanor violation."

"He was expected to appear in front of a judge at some point Monday, according to the Travis County Sheriff's office.

Okafor was charged with evading arrest on foot, a Class B misdemeanor, which carries maximum punishments of six months in jail and a $2,000 fine, according to police and the sheriff's office.
Jail records show Okafor went through central booking at 3:22 a.m.
Police said Okafor was also charged with a Class C warrant, which carries a maximum penalty of a $500 fine.

Okafor, 24, was selected in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL draft by the Cardinals. Last season, he accumulated 34 tackles and a team-high eight sacks in 13 games played, while adding one interception. A promising young player, it is unlikely the Cardinals would release him, but fans would likely speculate a fine or suspension is forthcoming.
