32.2% of Real Madrid Fans Want Cristiano Ronaldo Dropped from the Team

What a difference a couple of months makes.

Not so long ago, Cristiano Ronaldo was way ahead of Lionel Messi in La Liga's goalscoring charts and picking up his Ballon d'Or award.

Now some people don't even think he should be in the team.

A poll cited on the front page of AS on Monday, as translated by Football Espana, reveals that 92.1 percent of fans want the team to change to a 4-4-2 formation.

That would mean the club breaking up its "BBC" front three of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Ronaldo.

Asked who they would drop out of the trio, a significant 32.2 percent of Real fans picked Ronaldo, despite his 39 goals for Real this season across all competitions.

Bale is the most popular player for the chopping block with 46.1 percent suggesting he should go, while just 21.7 percent say Benzema should make way.

The paper also notes: "Since Christmas, Real's average of 2.6 goals per game has halved to 1.3."

P.P. San Martin of AS wrote about Ronaldo's form

"

Since he lifted the Ballon d'Or, Ronaldo has been off-key. He failed to score in the Club World Cup and since then in 10 league games he has scored 5 goals. In four league matches he has not managed a single shot on target, against Espanyol, Córdoba, Atlético and Athletic. His shots on target have fallen from 3.7 per game before Christmas to 1.4 in 2015.

"

It seems crazy to even suggest Ronaldo should be dropped, and we're sure it won't happen, but it does show the degree of concern in the Spanish capital with the Clasico coming up on March 22.
