Jackson and Texans Agree to New Contract
Saturday, March 7
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Texans have reached a four-year deal with Jackson.
Jackson spoke about the news on Twitter:
Jackson wasn't the biggest name set to hit the market, but the Texans also recognized how instrumental he is to their success and did well to keep him in house.
Jackson Expected to Hit Open Market

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Jackson appeared destined for the free-agent market, as he and the Texans had yet to come to terms on a new contract.
When Houston didn't apply the franchise tag to the 26-year-old, it seemed unlikely that he wouldn't at least test his value and see what other teams would offer him.
Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle reported the Texans and Jackson still wanted to reach a deal:
Texans general manager Rick Smith told reporters in February that he still hoped to re-sign Jackson.
"He's a good guy, good in our locker room, good leader and player," he said, per Deepi Sidhu of HoustonTexans.com. "He's one of those guys that we'd love to have around and we want to continue to have him in our building."
Jackson is coming off a solid 2014 campaign. He intercepted three passes while picking up 57 total tackles. Over his five-year career, he's compiled 10 picks, taking one back for a touchdown in 2012, and has firmly established himself as a capable pass defender.
Yahoo Sports' Rand Getlin believes that the combination of Jackson's skill and the paucity of talented corners available will only increase his value:
The door hasn't yet closed on Jackson's possible return to the Texans, but the window is growing smaller for Houston with each passing hour.
