Lofton Reportedly Signs with Raiders

Wednesday, March 11

Michael C. Wright of ESPN reported that Lofton would be signing with Oakland, just one day after Adam Caplan of ESPN reported that Lofton was visiting the Raiders.

Lofton Released by Saints After Reportedly Being Shopped

Monday, March 9

"Lofton was officially released by the Saints," reported ESPN's Adam Schefter via Twitter. Evan Woodberry of NOLA.com tweeted: "Saints will carry $5M in 'dead money' for Lofton. If designated a post-June 1 cut, it would be $2M against cap in '15, $3M in '16."

“The Saints are shopping LB Curtis Lofton, who had 144 tackles in 2014 and has played in 16 games every year of his career. Unexpected,” reported Ian Rapoport of NFL.com on March 4.

This is a surprising development considering how productive Lofton was as an anchor of the New Orleans defense in 2014. What’s more, he has never missed a game in his career and is as reliable as linebackers come in today’s injury-riddled NFL.

Evan Silva of Rotoworld breaks down the numbers on Lofton's 2014 season:

Lofton will be 29 during the 2015 season and should theoretically have a couple more years of prime production left in the tank.
