Henrik Sedin Becomes 4th Swedish-Born Player with 900 Points

Vancouver Canucks forward Henrik Sedin tallied his 900th career point during Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks, making him the fourth Swedish-born player to hit that milestone, per Sportsnet Stats.

Also the Canucks' all-time leader in points, Sedin reached 900 in impressive fashion, scoring a second-period, power-play goal that trimmed San Jose's lead to 3-1.

Later in the same period, Sedin added an even-strength goal, cutting the lead to 3-2 with the 901st point of his career.

While the Sharks would then close things out by scoring the game's final three goals, Sedin at least gave his squad a fighting chance against one of the teams it's competing with for a playoff spot in the Pacific Division.

Sedin's 901 career points put him 40 ahead of his twin brother, Daniel, for first place on the all-time franchise list.

The Sedins are also one and two in the Canucks' record books for assists, with Henrik boasting 693 to Daniel's 540. Of course, Daniel has the advantage in goals, with his 321 good for second place, behind only fellow Swede Markus Naslund's 346. Henrik's 208 goals rank just seventh in franchise history, as he's always been more of a distributor.

Among Swedish-born players, Henrik trails only Mats Sundin (1,349), Daniel Alfredsson (1,157) and Nicklas Lidstrom (1,142) on the all-time points list, while Daniel's 861 points are good for seventh among all Swedes, per quanthockey.com.

Henrik is fourth among Swedish-born skaters in assists (693), with Daniel ranking fifth in goals (321).

Still going strong at 34 years old, both twins figure to move further up the all-time leaderboards among their countrymen.
