Awesome Athlete Celebrity Events

Nick DimengoMar 4, 2015

One of the coolest things about being a famous athlete is the fact players can put their name on something and it will attract a lot of attention.

For that reason, there are a ton of our favorite stars who host a number of different events us fans get to watch or even participate in, getting us closer to those celebrities.

And with a ton of them happening every year, I found some of the most awesome athlete celebrity events.

Bryce Harper's Undercover in the MLB Fan Cave

1 of 10

Sure, this might not be an event Washington Nationals star outfielder Bryce Harper hosted himself, but with him going undercover as a reporter to trick fans in the MLB Fan Cave, I had to give it a nod.

Revealing himself by showing one fan his baseball card, Harper was a good sport by taking part in this event to help promote both his personality and the Fan Cave—even if the last guy wasn't about to get fooled, calling out Harper on his joke.

Phil Mickelson's Monday Night Football Shot

2 of 10

It might have been a few years ago, but when PGA golfer Phil Mickelson walked out onto the gridiron during halftime of the San Diego Chargers-Denver Broncos Monday Night Football game in 2012, he did something that was pretty darn cool—hit a shot that would have raised $1 million for charity.

Needing to get his shot within five feet of the target, Phil may have missed his intended landing spot, but he still earned $50,000 for a nonprofit organization that provides books for kids.

Matt Barnes' Flag Football Game

3 of 10

Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes might be known for being a little bit of a hot head on the basketball court, but he has shown in the past two years he isn't all about getting under opposing players' skin.

That's because Barnes teamed up with rapper Snoop Dogg to host a celebrity flag football game, getting several of his Clippers teammates and other area celebrities to participate, with proceeds benefiting the organization Athletes vs. Cancer.

Playstation Heroes

4 of 10

There are few things sports fans love to do more than play video games, with hours spent in front of the TV trying to conquer their favorite one.

And while my personal favorite is either Madden or FIFA, Playstation wanted to give some of the biggest athletes in their sport right now the chance to game against one another at an event a few weeks ago, with Stephen Curry, Shaun White and Yasiel Puig going head-to-head in some of Sony's games.

For those fans who made it out, I'm sure it was dope to see.

LeBron James' Bike-a-Thon

5 of 10

One of the most generous pro athletes in the world, Cleveland Cavs forward LeBron James may have left for the Miami Heat in 2010 before returning to Northeast Ohio this past summer, but for years James has hosted an annual bike-a-thon in his hometown of Akron to support his foundation.

And, even though 'Bron took heat for his decision in 2010 when he broadcast live his intentions to head to South Beach, he did so at the Boys & Girls Club, helping raise $6 million for the program through various ads.

Steve Nash's Soccer Showdown

6 of 10

Although future basketball Hall of Famer Steve Nash is one of the best point guards of the past couple of decades, he is one of the most diehard soccer fans on the planet, too.

For that reason, Nash organized a soccer game last summer during the World Cup that brought together a handful of athletes and celebrities to play in, with all proceeds from the event going towards the Steve Nash Foundation.

Richard Sherman Celebrity Softball Game

7 of 10

As the top cornerback in the NFL, you better believe the rosters for Richard Sherman's Celebrity Softball Game were full of A-listers.

With participants including a bevy of his Seattle Seahawks teammates and other athletes like Kobe Bryant, Jamal Crawford and Nate Robinson, it's no surprise the thing brought more than 22,000 fans to Safeco Field where it was held last year to catch a glimpse of some of their favorite players.

Chris Paul's Celebrity Waiter Event

8 of 10

While most waiters work for tips, the patrons NBA stars like Blake Griffin and Chris Paul serve are probably the ones asking for tips—on how to play hoops like an All-Star.

With Paul's celebrity waiter event, he and some of his teammates get the chance to stop stuffing basketballs and hand over some food that will stuff guests, with the money going to charity as part of the CP3 Foundation.

The Jordan Brand Classic

9 of 10

OK, so this might be an event that showcases some of the top high-school basketball players each year, but with Michael Jordan's name behind it, The Jordan Brand Classic has become one of the coolest hoops events every single year.

While others on this list might have a more charitable angle, The Jordan Brand Classic is the one that's, arguably, the most popular with fans able to see the stars of the future.

Rob Gronkowski's Party Bus

10 of 10

There isn't a sports fan on the the planet who hasn't thought about what it would be like to spend a day with New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski—especially after his post-Super Bowl escapades.

Well, wonder no more, folks, because Gronk is putting on a contest that gives a few fans the chance to "yo soy fiesta" with him on his party bus as part of an event he's hosting.

With a driver named Goon and the biggest party animal in sports as a host, you know this is going to be a good time.
