Jeremy Maclin Not Franchise-Tagged by Eagles: Latest Details, Reaction
On the heels of a career year, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will hit unrestricted free agency.
The Eagles opted not to use the franchise tag on Maclin or any other player, as the team's official Twitter account reported on Monday:
Philadelphia had until 4 p.m. ET to exercise the option. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport mentioned Maclin among those who didn't get tagged, and beforehand added what Maclin would have made in 2015 if he were anointed with the label:

Maclin came back from a torn ACL and an entire missed year to dominate in his first season in coach Chip Kelly's offense. The dynamic playmaker logged 85 receptions, 1,318 yards receiving and 10 touchdown grabs.
But Kelly, now in full command of personnel moves after an offseason power struggle, has opted to let Maclin test the open market at the risk of losing his best pass-catcher.
Thanks to his 2014 production, Maclin probably earned himself a considerable payday. Other than last year's second-round pick, Jordan Matthews, the Eagles don't have many other viable receiving options, or so it seems.
As recently as Saturday, Maclin expressed confidence that he'd find a way to remain an Eagle, via Philly.com's Les Bowen:
"I've always said I want to be here in Philadelphia, but I've also always said I understand it's a business. Both sides have made it known that we both want each other back, so the rest of it is in God's hands. If it's supposed to happen, it'll happen. I want to be here.
"
There still appears to be a strong chance that Philadelphia inks Maclin to a long-term extension after seeing what other teams offer him. Its list of free agents isn't too filled with big names, as Maclin is the clear headliner and ought to be the top priority.
Suitors in need of a do-it-all pass-catcher like Maclin should offer him a lucrative deal, though.
A hefty price tag may be too pricey for the Eagles' taste. At least there is mutual interest for a long reunion, but Maclin's mindset could change, too, if he gets a huge offer elsewhere.
