Vince Young Featured on OWN's 'In Deep Shift' with Jonas Elrod
As he prepares to forge an NFL comeback, Vince Young knows he has an uphill battle. He also knows seeing his son watch him have professional success means more than anything.
"I want to finish what I started," Young said in an appearance on In Deep Shift with Jonas Elrod on Sunday. "I want to finish my career. I want to leave a legacy for, in this case, my son if he wants to play sports. And my goal when I stepped into the NFL [was] to be a Hall of Fame player. So I want to reach that goal as well."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The former Texas star brought Elrod along back on a trip through his life, which included the shortcomings of his own father and the heights he reached in Austin. Young spoke openly about how his father's absence affected him growing up and how that forced him to take on personal responsibility.

"I just want him to understand, like, you wasn't here, so I'm over here working," Young said. "I'm so busy trying to take care of a lot of responsibilities that I feel like he should have been helping me with."
Young would go on to become one of the most decorated quarterbacks in Texas history. He threw 44 touchdowns and added another 37 on the ground in his three years as a starter, which culminated in a 2005 Rose Bowl victory over USC.
Viewed as a potential No. 1 pick, Young would enter the draft after his junior year and go No. 3 to the Tennessee Titans. But his professional career never quite panned out. He won the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2006 and plateaued from there, throwing 46 touchdowns against 51 interceptions in six seasons. He's failed each of the last three seasons to make an NFL roster, most recently with the Cleveland Browns.
Though Young retired after being let go by Cleveland, he registered for the NFL's first veteran scouting combine in March, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's unclear if Young has the talent to make an NFL roster at age 31. What's clear after seeing him with Elrod is that no one can question his drive.
