Simms: Steelers Should Target Culliver

Bleacher Report's Chris Simms discussed the players the Steelers should target this offseason, including Culliver:
Culliver Emerging as Top Corner on the Market
Sunday, March 1
"49ers Chris Culliver is one of the most sought-after corners. Expect a big-time deal. Graded high on many teams, per multiple team sources," reported Dianna Marie Russini of NBC4 in Washington D.C.
Culliver had a strong season in 2014, finishing with 45 tackles, four interceptions, a fumble recovery and 15 passes defended in 14 games after missing all of 2013 with a torn ACL.
And now it sounds as though he could cash in on that campaign in a big way, as the other "big names" on the market are likely to be Brandon Flowers, Antonio Cromartie, Byron Maxwell and Tramon Williams.
Things could change if the New England Patriots don't pick up Darrelle Revis' option for 2015 and he hits the market, but that would be surprising.
Of course, there are varying opinions on Culliver. Matt Miller of Bleacher Report, for instance, has Culliver as his No. 10 free-agent corner, behind his teammate Perrish Cox. Teams could also look to draft a player at corner rather than take a chance on Culliver, who has had some off-field concerns.
So Culliver certainly appears to be a player who divides opinion, even if the buzz on him is apparently picking up in NFL circles.
He's going to be a player in demand this offseason. That much seems certain, whether it is early in free agency or a bit later as teams try to find value signings after the big names have set the market.
