Raw 8/17/09: "The Prinze's Royal Court"

   Show opens with Freddy being introduced. He comes in saying we start summerslam early. Prinze totally sounds like he needs to hit puberty. Santino in the IKWYDLS suit awesome. aww i miss Santino on television. Santino runs through a few of freddie's more famous roles. out comes Orton. fans are cheering Orton.

   Orton states he will not fight in the main event tells Freddy to take him out of the match in his home town. Excellent job by Orton getting the audience to boo him.they are cheering yelling for the rko and quickly switch to you suck chants.

   Kofi opens the show against Carlito w/ Rosa and the US title is on the line. Carlito should come out with a top hat. he looks like slash kind of. nice back and forth action. Commercial interrupts the match. number 1 sign that the opening segment ran too long. this break is usually 4-6 minutes as opposed to later breaks that are 3 or 4 minutes. Back from commercial Carlito is in control. pace seems to have slowed down minor crowd involvement. no chants a few reactions from high spots. The united states title history is mentioned and King screwed up "Carlitos name may be added to that list soon if this keeps up." US strap was Carlito's first one. Kofi is getting offense.Hits his Boom Boom leg drop of doom. flying cross body 2 count for Kofi. Carlito hits some good moves he rolled the dice on Kofi for a 2 count. Kofi hits "Trouble in Paradise" for the 3 count. Kofi retains. The match kind of  slowed down in the middle but it was well done. good match to set the pace for Raw tonight. should be noted it lasted so long that it went into a commercial right after the match. 

   DX montage brings us back from break. Plenty footage of the DX Army. 

   Following the dx montage the Miz Returns In tights. New attitude New Look, Same Mouth. Embarking on a journey to get the United States Championship. Commercial After the break Miz will be taking on Evan Bourne. Miz is showing a good dominant side against Bourne. I am liking this match. It is wierd i changed my status on wwe universe to #MizforUSchamp this morning ha. Miz broke the walls down on Evan Bourne. Good match. Miz is redeeming himself in ring. Skull Crushing Finale *who writes this crap*

   Another break the hour is to close with DX arrival at the arena. Dang a recap of last weeks skits good thing they are still funny. I love HBK's skits. he is never going to live down "I just kicked Stan" it is apparent by the skits last week. DX limo pulls in Hunter and Shawn come in like they are from a buddy movie. hahaha tripleh literally buries Jillian hall. Santino earns a superkick  lol "No matter how much you think it will never get any worse, it does." DX makes it out to the ring. Legacy attacks. interrupting the return of DX rhodes smacks HHH with Shawn's boot. "Yes We are Ready"- Ted Dibiase jr. 

   good segment with legacy yelling "you aren't ready" at DX as they cut to another break. in an hour and 15 minutes I've seen 2 matches both involving the United States title in a way. coming in from break recap of what we just watched "for those of you just tuning in"

   Divas Title Match next. Gail vs Mickie.  Someone cued the wrong promotion. as a summerslam coming early match they tossed up the summerslam sponsor instead of the raw sponsor. right now it's two faces against each other. nice back and forth action Both seem to be on the same page, and they aren't making it look bad. returning huricanranas Gail moves through the ropes fluidly. fans amazingly do not seem into this match. Mickie misses a kick and forearms Gail in the face. Mickie ending the match with a little bit of class. even though she looked pissed with how the match went.

   recap of Orton Freddy Prinze. Freddy is back at Raw. Josh Matthews taking a break from EcW to interview John Cena. Cena uses the "i never learned to read " again. Jericho interrupts. commercial break. vince's monk commercial is awesome. about 45 minutes left to the show. Cena and Orton vs Jericho and show is the main event. i hope they give a couple filler matches.

   Match back from break MVP vs Swagger already in the ring fighting as we return from break. Quick match Swagger gets DQed off the bat. cuts to break.

   Falls count everywhere Hornswaggle vs Chavo. this ought to be painful. And I'm right paint can to the face of Chavo. Poor Chavo. was that just Macauly Culkin? 

   King and Cole are in the ring to promote summerslam Before the main event. Commercial break. Back from Break next week Floyd Mayweather hosts raw in Las Vegas. 76% of the results of daily poll say Cena and Orton can win against show and Jericho. 

    Randy comes out before challenger John Cena. Honestly even though its non title should have been Cena then Orton then Tag Champs its their specialty they are the champions of the tag style match and they come out first, and a non champion comes out last. Freddy Re Emerges  announces LumberJack Match  Not exactly Orton Fans.  good way to keep Orton in the ring as he walked out on Big Show Last week. cut to commercial as the lumberjacks come out. Freddy's Balls haven't dropped yet.

  I digress back in the match.Cena tossed outside to a welcoming set of lumberjacks. sadly when Jericho goes to the floor not such a warm welcome. Orton Tagged in, Orton tossed into the match. to take on big show. Orton rolls out side. Mark Henry presses Orton back in the ring. Jericho gets the tag taking it to Orton no love lost between these two. Fans are really into the match. Orton breaks out of sleeper hold. Jericho holding Orton's legs and Big show delivers a legdrop to the champ. Suplex from show to Orton. Orton looks Blown up and out of it. Orton hits a nice slam to counter whatever Jericho was going for. they are super teasing a Cena tag so look for a hot tag and the crowd to erupt. missed lionsault Orton is almost to Cena Hot tag to Cena. hangman to big show attitude adjuster to Jericho Orton and Cena win. Orton hits RkO post Match. Jericho and Big Show are taking out the Lumberjacks Cena clears the champs from the ring. 

This show was better over all than last week. is it going to get ratings possibly not but the matches that were here were actually done really well. Match of the night is a toss up. seriously Kofi Carlito Miz Bourne Gail and Mickie all earned my love this week. I'm giving it to Kofi and Carlito mainly because 2 or 3 minutes in the crowd was dying but they brought the crowd back in for the ending and it was a great performance.

Grade: B+ 

  The matches were done well and the guest host was minimal, we could have had less time on segments over matches but No bodies perfect.
