Kvapil Has Sprint Cup Car Stolen

Friday, Feb. 27ย

According to ESPN.com's Bob Pockrass, a trailer containing the car was taken from the parking lot of a hotel in Morrow, Georgia.

Kvapil appeared onย Sirius XM NASCAR radio to explain the circumstances behind what happened to his car:

With the car now missing, Team Xtreme has no choice but to withdraw from Sunday's race, per Pockrass:

Kvapil tweeted about the ordeal, asking for help in recovering the car:

Travis Kvapil @TravisKvapil

Wow. Anyone near Atlanta find my stolen Cup car let me know! Unreal

In an effort to catch the perpetrator, Kvapil tweeted photos of the trailer and the No. 44 car:

The 38-year-old racing veteran also raised the notion that the thief may not even have known the car was inside the trailer:

Travis Kvapil @TravisKvapil

I bet when whoever has it, opens the trailer and is going to be like 'oh snap'

Kvapil regretted that they would be unable to track the stolen vehicle:

Travis Kvapil @TravisKvapil

Dang.... I'm wishing we had LoJack or something on it!

According to Jim Noble of SiriusXM NASCAR, hotel surveillance caught the crime on camera:

Jim Noble @Noble_Jim

Travis Kvapil will join us on Tradin Paint 11:30aET @SiriusXMNASCAR to discuss stolen #44 car. There is hotel surveillance vid showing heist.

Smaller teams are needed in order to keep the Sprint Cup Series going strong, and there was at least an outside chance of Kvapil and Co. having a good run at a bigger track such as Atlanta.
