Brock Lesnar, NXT Superstars, WrestleMania 31 and More on the Walkout Mailbag

Alfred KonuwaFeb 26, 2015

Has anybody heard any good Brock Lesnar stories lately? WWE spent the past several months building Lesnar into its most dominant force in decades—maybe ever.

Lesnar's dominance is presumably going to lead to his downfall at WrestleMania 31 as Roman Reigns prepares to carry the torch.

That is, if Lesnar makes it to WrestleMania 31.

@ThisIsNasty do you know the real reason Brock Lesnar walked off of raw? #wwe

— Chris Bryant (@melobrand06) February 26, 2015"

Nobody will know the real reason behind Lesnar's reported walkout, per Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestlingInc.com), until we get the sensationalized version during his next WWE DVD.

Lesnar will always be mercurial. No promoter, general manager or president has figured out how to keep him contained long-term. In this day and age, the term "beast" is commonplace, but nobody fits that description both physically and emotionally more than Lesnar.

The story of his career takes him from one physical conquest to another. At every stop as a professional, he has either dominated, stirred controversy or—in most cases—both.

As his latest contract comes due, tensions will run higher with every day he goes without re-signing. Lesnar is as relevant as he has ever been in his WWE career. That notoriety is a big reason he left in the first place.

Perhaps being such an integral part of WWE's biggest event of the year is rehashing the old demons of fame.

WWE needs to lean on Paul Heyman as a liaison if it hasn't already. As one of Lesnar's only true friends, he'll be the deciding factor if Lesnar renews his contract with WWE.

"

@ThisIsNasty Do you expect much actual wrestling at 'mania 31, or should we just expect to be entertained?

— Rob Byles (@RobByles) February 26, 2015"

To me, most WrestleMania matches should be the culmination of a conflict between two WWE Superstars or Divas. Any added ingredients result in more entertainment and less wrestling.

At WrestleMania XXX, there were eight matches on the card. Just three were singles matches. WrestleMania 31 looks like it's headed down a similar path. The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal was already announced. Meanwhile, three WWE Superstars can lay claim to an Intercontinental Championship match.

Fortunately, the higher-profile matches look to be one-on-one. Sting vs. Triple H, Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar, John Cena vs. Rusev and Daniel Bryan against an unnamed opponent will all make WrestleMania about the wrestling.

@ThisIsNasty What NXT superstars will debut on the Raw after Mania?

— O Steph Curry (@Oasis3457) February 26, 2015"

WWE will be wise to debut multiple NXT Superstars on the Raw after WrestleMania given the crowd they'll be in front of. The night after WrestleMania is the most lively, hardcore crowd WWE has all year. When casual viewers at home see enormous pops for developmental guys they've never heard of, it'll encourage them to research and familiarize themselves with these talents.

Debuting NXT Superstars the night after WrestleMania is the best head start a developmental talent can have. Any debuting star should be somebody with a strong Internet following. There is no shortage of these talents in NXT.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn remain the top candidates for this spot, but they are currently embroiled in the beginning of what may be a long-term feud. Finn Balor seems like the most WWE-approved NXT Superstar on the roster. In addition to having a built-in fanbase, Balor will also captivate the minds of a broader audience through his larger-than-life entrance and presentation.

Adrian Neville is at the end of his run in NXT. After enjoying a long reign with the NXT Championship, he's spent recent weeks putting over fresher faces.

If I had to guess, I'd say Balor and Neville will debut in WWE the night after Raw while Zayn and Owens continue their feud in NXT.

Will the NXT Divas render the current WWE Divas extinct? Listen for more on PodNasty!
