Hoiberg Continues to Receive Bulls Buzz

Saturday, March 21

ESPN's Marc Stein reported that Iowa State head coach Fred Holberg remains the Bulls top target should head coach Tom Thibodeau leave after the season:

"

It is widely -- and I mean widely -- believed throughout the league that Fred Hoiberg, whose Iowa State Cyclones were bounced in the first round of the tournament Thursday by UAB, is the top choice of the Chicago Bulls to replace Tom Thibodeau in the event that the Bulls and Thibs indeed part company at season's end.

Bulls Potentially Eyeing Fred Hoiberg

Wednesday, Feb. 25

The Bulls have been guided by head coach Tom Thibodeau since 2010, but if they decide to explore other options this offseason, they may look to the collegiate ranks.

According to ESPN's Jay Williams, Chicago could make a play for Iowa State head coach and former Bulls guard Fred Hoiberg:

There has been a great deal of speculation regarding the possibility of the Bulls firing Thibodeau this offseason if the 2014-15 campaign doesn't yield a favorable result.

Hoiberg has led the Cyclones to the NCAA tournament in each of the past three seasons, and he is viewed as one of the best young coaches in college basketball.

Although the Bulls have had success in terms of wins and losses under Thibodeau, they have failed to reach the NBA Finals and may need to make a change in order to avoid remaining stagnant.

Should Chicago make the difficult decision to part ways with Thibodeau, it is certainly understandable why an up-and-comer like Hoiberg might be a primary target.
