Girgensons Could Return This Season
Thursday, March 12
Sabres coach Ted Nolan spoke on Girgensons' status as the season winds down, saying he wouldn't rule out the center making a return before the end of the campaign, telling Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald: “I saw him this morning,” Nolan said. “It looked like he gained some weight. He looks healthy.”
On Feb. 26, The Associated Press, via ESPN.com, reported that "Girgensons will miss at least two weeks."
Sabres head coach Ted Nolan also revealed that Girgensons' injury "is bad but not as bad as we thought," per the team's Twitter account. Nolan also noted he is expected to be back before the end of the season.

Girgensons also added an assist in the second period to help the cause further, but it appears this rare victory for Buffalo will be of the Pyrrhic variety if Girgensons is indeed lost for the season.
Although the hope is that he can play moving forward, the Sabres will have to hope more than anything that the 21-year-old Girgensons' long-term health isn't in jeopardy as they continue to rebuild.
