Price Undergoes Surgery, Out 6-8 Weeks

Wednesday, Feb. 25

Yahoo Sports' Marc J. Spears reported Price will miss 6-8 weeks following surgery to remove bone spurs and bone chips in his elbow.

The Lakers' official Twitter account reported news of the surgery:

Serena Winters of Lakers Nation initially passed along the timetable for Price's recovery, which was expected to knock him out for the remainder of the season:

Price, who has appeared in 43 games for the Lakers, is averaging 5.1 points, 1.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 22.8 minutes per game. While he hasn't been the team's most productive player, he's been deemed valuable enough to be given 20 starts on the season.

For the Lakers, another player lost to injury is nothing new, as star Kobe Bryant, rookie Julius Randle and veteran Steve Nash are all out injured. Of course, the team's injury woes may be a blessing in disguise: The team's first-round pick this year is top-five protected, but if the Lakers don't end up with a top-five pick, it will transfer to the Philadelphia 76ers

So perhaps a young prospect will be the light at the end of a very rough season for the team.
