Randy Gregory: 2015 NFL Combine Results, Highlights and Twitter Reaction
Randy Gregory has been touted as one of the top defensive players in the entire 2015 NFL draft class and one of the top edge-rushers to watch in a deep year at the position. But NFL teams still need to do their due diligence, and the NFL Scouting Combine is where teams have a chance to poke and prod at the most talented prospects.
So how did Gregory, a raw prospect with as much upside as any player in this draft class, hold up?
Here's how he fared in his measurements and tests, per NFL.com:

The first concern on the day for Gregory was that he was far lighter than most scouts and front-office personnel were hoping. That's not completely Gregory's fault, however, as Bryan Fischer of NFL.com noted:
Gregory also addressed his weight yesterday, per Dane Brugler of CBS Sports:
What isn't questionable is Gregory's athleticism. Josina Anderson of ESPN broke down his 40-yard dash form and his athleticism in the drills:
Matt Miller of Bleacher Report also praised his physical gifts:
And Mike Mayock had a specific adjective in mind while watching him work, per the NFL Network on Twitter:
Not everyone was enamored with Gregory, though. Pete Prisco of CBS Sports thought he took a step back this past season:
The numbers certainly reflect that assessment. In 2013, Gregory finished with 66 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks. Those numbers dipped to 54 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 7.0 sacks last season, though he also played in two fewer games than he did in 2013.
Ultimately, Gregory didn't really hurt his draft stock at the combine, but he probably didn't help himself much, either. The fact that he was coming off an illness and came in far lighter than teams had expected will probably be overlooked come draft day, but Gregory was likely hoping to run a somewhat faster 40-yard dash.
He showed solid strength given his length, and he certainly impressed folks with his movement, agility and overall athleticism. The sky certainly seems to be the limit for Gregory. Whether he reaches that potential or not is another question entirely.
