Zetterberg Cleared for Rangers Game
Wednesday, March 4
Red Wings general manager Ken Holland revealed Zetterberg has been cleared to play Wednesday night against the New York Rangers, per Ansar Khan of MLive.com.
On March 3, Bill Roose of DetroitRedWings.com reported Zetterberg was set to be a game-day decision for the contest.
On Feb. 26, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press indicated Zetterberg returned to the ice on Thursday. St. James also reported head coach Mike Babcock expected Zetterberg to return for the contest.
Zetterberg Leaves Dallas Game With Injury
Saturday, Feb. 21
The Detroit Red Wings announced Saturday night that veteran left wing Henrik Zetterberg suffered an upper-body injury against the Dallas Stars and would be unable to return, per Khan.
St. James reported that Niklas Kronwall thinks Zetterberg took a blow to the head.
Entering Saturday's game, Zetterberg was first on the team in assists (34) and points (49) while totaling the fourth-most goals (15). After two injury-plagued seasons, the 34-year-old has looked great and is a big reason for why the Red Wings are in the playoff picture.
As long as Zetterberg doesn't miss a ton of time going forward, that gap should not close to the extent that Detroit is suddenly on the outside looking in.
