WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from February 18

Erik BeastonFeb 19, 2015

Kevin Owens' climb to the top of the NXT mountain may have culminated with a dominant and violent win over former friend Sami Zayn at Takeover: Rival, but on Wednesday night, he found out the hard way that staying there will not be easy.

He battled Adrian Neville in a match set up by general manager William Regal.

Neville, a former champion himself, provided Owens with his greatest test to date, withstanding an early onslaught from the titleholder that was eerily similar to the one he dealt to Zayn last week before mounting a comeback and nearly knocking off Owens in his first match as the top dog in NXT.

But in the end, it was the former Ring of Honor star who was able to snatch victory from the hands of defeat and continue proving that he is the most unstoppable force in NXT.

Sasha Banks was in action just one week after winning the Women's Championship, Enzo Amore and "Big Cass" Colin Cassady threw their names into the NXT Tag Team Championship mix and Rhyno made a shocking return to action.

But which Superstars and Divas emerged from this week's broadcast winners and losers?

Find out now with this look back at the February 18 episode of NXT.

Winner: Kevin Owens

The NXT champion is enjoying the best booking in all of WWE at this point.

Not only did he decimate Zayn to the point that he could no longer fend for himself, leaving the referee to call off the match and award Owens the NXT Championship, he defeated Neville cleanly on Wednesday nightsomething few have accomplished over the last year.

Those two wins, coupled with an intriguing character that, while undeniably heel, is so incredibly sympathetic and even likable because of his dedication to his family, have helped Owens become one of the most must-see performers on the current roster.

And it does not appear as if things are slowing down in the least.

Owens, like Triple H some 15 years ago, is a heel capable of becoming the centerpiece of the entire brand. As the weeks and months progress, expect to see the NXT champion continue to develop into a performer capable of carrying an entire show on his back.

Whether that earns him a spot on the main roster sooner rather than lateror if Vince McMahon and company can resist the urge to tweak the character and make it less effective than it already has been when that time comesremains to be seen.

Winners: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady

Amore and Big Cass are in the hunt for the NXT Tag Team Championships for the first time in over a year, thanks to a victory over Aiden English and Simon Gotch.

There was also post-match interaction with Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy.

Amore and Cassady have long been the most over team on the show but, for whatever reason, have never really been able to advance far past the status of opening-match comedy act.

The energy they bring to shows, though, is very real. There is a certain electricity that fills the air anytime they enter an arena, and booking them to battle the relatively green Blake and Murphy will bring heat to the tag title picture that Sin Cara and Kalistoas good as they aresimply could not.

They have earned the opportunity to compete for the goldwin it even. But for now, Wednesday night's hint at a championship rivalry will do just fine.

Winner: Rhyno

The reaction enjoyed by Rhyno as he made his arrival in the NXT Arena was simply astonishing.

The former ECW champion was greeted with a huge ovation from a stunned audience. No fan ever envisioned seeing Rhyno back inside a WWE-owned ring, let alone one with yellow ropes and typically designed for the young stars of tomorrow.

The dominant victory over Elias Samson is irrelevant. What is not is the brief confrontation between Rhyno and No. 1 contender Finn Balor. The fans reacted favorably to the tease, implying that they not only want to see the match but believe that Rhyno could be a a legitimate threat to the international star.

On one night, NXT took a star who had been working various independent promotions around the country, brought him into the fold and convinced fans that the perennial midcard star could be a very real, very serious threat to every one of the young stars in the brand.

That is the type of creative hot streak the show is on at this point.

Losers: No One

It is impossible to watch a show as effective as the February 18 broadcast and pick out a single loser.

Even acts such as The Vaudevillains and Blue Pants, who suffered disappointing losses, were recipients of solid reactions from the NXT faithful. The fact that they are associated with the brand as it enjoys its hottest streak to date makes them winners.

The hard work and dedication of WWE's brightest young stars have helped make the brand infinitely superior to the main roster in terms of overall quality.

Everyone involved should be proud of themselves, from wrestlers to management to the crew to the audience that files into the arena every week.

It is shows like NXT that make watching professional wrestling fun.
