Chicago Bears: Saturday Night Scratches

Nick SheAug 15, 2009
I know we are all anxiously awaiting the first half of tonight's game, but news has come out that we won't get to see the Bears offense with all its weapons this evening.

On offense, the Bears will be without both Matt Forte and Greg Olsen. Kevin Jones will start in Forte's place while Olsen will be replaced by Desmond Clark for the evening.

Having a limited playbook already, it will be interesting to see what Ron Turner tries to get Jay Cutler to do in the first pre-season game.

Defensively, we are now sure that Danieal Manning will not play due to a sore hamstring. Replacing him is rookie Al Afalava from Oregon State at free safety.

Afalava has seen much time with the starting defense this summer but starting alongside Kevin Payne in the defensive backfield, it could be an ugly evening.

Star wide out Terrell Owens will not play tonight for the Bills after suffering a toe injury last Sunday night against the Titans. Bills head coach Dick Jauron made it clear that there was no reason to risk further injury in a meaningless pre-season game.

As a Bears fan I would have liked to see the Bears secondary against one of the premier wide outs in the NFL today. You have to grow up sometime...better tonight than later in the year, right?
