Lukas Podolski is one of the most active footballers on social media, but he probably wouldn't have guessed that one day a couple would meet through commenting on his Facebook page.
That is precisely what happened, however. On Valentine's Day, the forward received a note from a Brazilian woman explaining that she had met a German man through Podolski's Facebook page. The two went from strangers to engaged in a few (presumably whirlwind) months.
She commented on one of Podolski's Facebook posts last November when he wrote in Portuguese and ended up chatting with Simon Hinsel on the same thread. Hinsel then sent her a friend request, and they are set to marry later this year.
The letter is in full above.
Podolski was impressed with his matchmaking skills, adding, "I'm glad for being the Cupid of this beautiful relationship, I wish you two lots happiness, joy and longevity. Enjoy your love for the rest of your lives. All the best #PoldiMatch.com #Cupid #LoveStory."
Of course, he also wrote the same in Portuguese, presumably starting another relationship or two.
