On Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2K Sports released the "Hall of Pain 2K Showcase" downloadable content for play on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles for use with WWE 2K15.
This newest piece in the 2K Showcase puzzle highlights some of the greatest matches from the "World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry's run from 2011-2013.
Fans who have already bought into the Showcase Season Pass will get Hall of Pain at no additional cost. The Showcase Season Pass program gives subscribers access to all additional DLC content as well as the two storylines that shipped with the original retail version of the game (CM Punk and John Cena's Hustle, Loyalty and Disrespect and Triple H and Shawn Michaels' Best Friends, Bitter Enemies).
On Feb. 3, the Christian-inspired One More Match DLC was also released.
If you don't already have the SSP, you can still get Hall of Pain and One More Match, with both available as an a la carte purchase.
Hall of Pain gives gamers access to 10 new playable versions of WWE Superstars. All of the following appear in their 2011 attires and gimmick packaging:
- Mark Henry
- Big Show
- Jey Uso
- Jimmy Uso
- The Great Khali
- Randy Orton
- Daniel Bryan
In addition to the new playable versions of those Superstars, there's also three new arenas:
- SmackDown (2011)
- Vengeance (2011)
- WrestleMania 29
Per 2K Games (via WrestlingInc.com), here are the matches available to play through in Hall of Pain:
Mark Henry vs. Big Show (Money in the Bank, July 17, 2011)

Every item must be unlocked. There are two ways to do this: You can be a trooper and play through the content to earn the spoils, or you can purchase the Accelerator that instantly unlocks every item, character, attire and arena for all 2K Showcase DLC.
In the words of Dres from Black Sheep: "The choice is yours."
For months, I walked around the house yelling, "That's what I do," after the completion of any task—small or large. Why? Because of Mark Henry. Few super heavyweights have had the presence and mic skills that the Silsbee, Texas, native possesses.
He came to the WWE after a successful career as a power lifter that saw him compete in the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics.
Henry obliterated any notions that might suggest a traditional athlete of fame wouldn't be able to succeed in the WWE's world of sports entertainment.
Here's an epic account of the Superstars Henry has inducted into the Hall of Pain:
While it's awesome to see Henry honored through DLC, it would have been icing on the cake if his 2013 angle with John Cena had been included. It appears Henry's list of matches stops just before that program began in July 2013.
Henry's "retirement" speech was some of the best executed mic work in the last 15 years of WWE entertainment. From the hideous blazer to the physical machinations and epic climax, this is how a wrestling storyline should be executed.
Take a gander:
Even without that awesome moment, this DLC does continue a strong post-release period for WWE 2K15. The team at 2K Sports has done a great job keeping the title fresh considering it released three months ago.
There's still one more storyline yet to be added to the 2K Showcase library. Per a press release provided to Bleacher Report, the final addition is called "Path of the Warrior," and it centers around the most memorable matches in the career of the late Ultimate Warrior.
There's one other addition to the WWE 2K15 roster coming as well.
The "NXT Arrival" pack that features JBL, Adam Rose, The Ascension (Konnor and Victor) and Emma is forthcoming. The exact date that the NXT Arrival pack will be available is not known. This add-on won't come equipped with a task-based storyline like the 2K Showcase DLC.
Be sure to check back on the release details for Path of the Warrior and the NXT Arrival pack.
