WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for February 16

Ryan DilbertFeb 16, 2015

The Feb. 16 edition of WWE Raw centers around family infighting and Fastlane.

WWE needs to both build toward the pay-per-view and round out the card with more bouts. The Rhodes family falling apart in front of a live audience can help in both regards. It's getting clearer and clearer that Stardust and Goldust's split is coming.

When the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, welcomes Raw, Big Show's punishment, John Cena's retaliation and Dean Ambrose's pursuit of the Intercontinental Championship will be the other key stories unfolding.

Arena reports, Twitter, narrative seed-planting and James Wortman's "Five-Point Preview" on WWE.com gives fans a good idea of who and what to expect on Monday's Raw. The go-home show for Fastlane kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on USA.

Rhodes Reunion

Implosion is imminent within the Rhodes family. Stardust and Goldust have bickered over the last few weeks, especially when Goldust calls his brother "Cody."

Their father, Dusty Rhodes, is headed to Raw to help them sort things out, as WWE announced on Twitter:

WWE fans know that attempts at reconciliation like this don't normally turn out well. It wasn't long ago that Brie and Nikki Bella's drama escalated at each attempt to repair their relationship.

That's the safe bet to happen again.

WWE has added several Rhodes-centered videos on its YouTube page, seemingly planting the seeds for a full-on feud between Goldust and Stardust. In his Raw preview, Wortman adds foreshadowing of his own. He writes, "What will happen if the WWE Hall of Famer fails in his mission to unite his offspring?"

News, Potential Spoilers

In reality, Cena's eye injury is healed enough for him to compete. In terms of storyline, WWE has been playing up its severity.

Rusev attacked Cena on last week's Raw, and WWE announced on its website that this assault exacerbated Cena's scratched cornea. The report also mentioned that "WWE.com expects that we'll receive an update on his condition Monday night during Raw."

Rusev attacks John Cena.

Cena hasn't wrestled on the last three editions of Raw, clearly taking it easy leading up to Fastlane.

During a press conference in Abu Dhabi late last week (h/t PWInsider), Cena said, "WWE is being extra cautious. A scratched cornea is basically like a scratch on the surface of your eye. I've had this injury multiple times. My vision is blurry."

He did say, though, that he would be ready to perform at all three shows there. And he did exactly that.

Cena main evented the Feb. 12 show as well as the live event on Feb. 14, per ProFightDB.com, taking on Seth Rollins and Bad News Barrett, respectively.

So it's clear that Cena is good to go if WWE chooses to have him do battle. That's not the case with Zack Ryder.

Despite appearing at the Royal Rumble, Ryder isn't ready to return to action just yet. When asked about his current condition, he told Ghostbusters News, "Not 100 percent, but I'm pretty damn close."

Fellow little-used roster member Darren Young is healed from his own injury, but controversy may keep him out of the ring.

As Marissa Payne of The Washington Post outlines, WWE pulled Young from the tour in United Arab Emirates tour, a nation infamous for its persecution of homosexuals. Young responded to WWE's choice with several critical tweets, one of which was later pulled.

Young later pushed back on Twitter against what he feels was a violation of his free speech:

This outburst either nets Young a stay in the doghouse or added opportunity. Does WWE counter the recent negative attention this Young story has received by giving him a spot on the card?

If that's how things turn out, it will be Young's first match on Raw in months.

Young, strangely enough, has a better shot of appearing on Raw than the world champ. As James Caldwell of the Pro Wrestling Torch notes, "Brock Lesnar is not advertised" for Monday's Raw.

The Superstars that are announced for Monday's Raw include Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Kane and Big Show. There has been no word about anyone from NXT joining the fun, but with Raw being so close to developmental's home base Monday, fans will be on the lookout for Adrian Neville, Charlotte or other NXT stars.

En Route to Fastlane

There is no Intercontinental Championship match set as of now, but the expectation is for that to change come Monday. Dean Ambrose has called out Bad News Barrett several times only to have the champ dismiss him.

With just three bouts lined up for Fastlane, it's only logical that WWE follows through with this antagonism between Barrett and Ambrose. On his Raw preview, Wortman teases a confrontation between champion and would-be challenger.

A confrontation of another kind is set for the upcoming pay-per-view. Sting accepted Triple H's challenge to meet him face to face at that event.

WWE isn't likely to have Sting appear on Raw as him showing up at Fastlane is supposed to be a selling point for the show and the WWE Network. The focus will then be on Triple H and how he responds to last week's eerie meeting.

His history suggests that Triple H will answer loudly and angrily.

Cena will be issuing his own response to a nemesis, now a week removed from Rusev battering him on the entrance ramp. One would assume that Cena will strike back, and the Wortman's preview hints at that happening.

Wortman writes, "Will Cena get some retribution on The Hero of the Russian Federation, or will Rusev continue to assert his dominance over the Cenation leader?"

The main narrative heading into Fastlane stars Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns. Big Show, however, looks to be stomping his way into the story in a major way.

The big man had served as one of The Authority's goons, working alongside Kane to weaken both Reigns and Bryan. On Thursday's SmackDown, though, he created a crack in that partnership. Big Show squabbled with Kane.

Fans wondered if they were simply seeing two villains having a spat or yet another Big Show babyface turn. Either way, expect Big Show to be on center stage on Monday's Raw.

The preview focuses a lot on The World's Largest Athlete and what his actions last week will earn him. Wortman asks, "Will Triple H and Stephanie also have plans to punish the giant?"

WWE still has SmackDown ahead, but Monday is the company's best chance to drum up interest in Fastlane. That process looks to be something Big Show will be a part of, as will Triple H, Cena and the Rhodes family drama.
