Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reported that Eaves was placed on injured reserve with a concussion. Heika also reported Eaves had no fractures in his skull.
Eaves Injured by Shot
Friday, Feb. 13
Friday night couldn't have gone much worse for the Dallas Stars. Tyler Seguin took a massive hit from Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov in the third period, which knocked him out of the game, and John Klingberg struck teammate Patrick Eaves in the face with an errant slap shot.
Sportsnet provided footage of the play:
George Richards of The Miami Herald reported that Eaves received medical attention after the game to determine the severity of the problem:
The Stars are three points back of the Calgary Flames for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
On its own, Eaves' injury shouldn't have a serious effect on the team's postseason push. When taking in tandem with Seguin's injury, though, Dallas could be in some trouble over the next couple of weeks.
