NXT TakeOver 4 Results: Superstars Who Proved They Are Main Roster-Ready

Michael GuadalupeFeb 13, 2015

Making the transition from NXT to the main roster is never easy, but after NXT TakeOver: Rivals, these five superstars proved that they are ready for the jump.

The card was filled with fantastic matches, and NXT remains one of the best programs on the WWE Network. Every wrestler on the NXT roster knows he or she has a lot to prove, and it showed throughout TakeOver.

But after some Superstars lost their matches at Rivals, where do they go now, especially those who were already top NXT wrestlers and former champions?

With the success of NXT alumni like Bray Wyatt, Rusev and all the members of The Shield who made the move to the main event roster, NXT continues to prove how important it is for the future of the WWE.

The main roster should be the next destination for NXT performers who have the potential to face a whole new group of Superstars.

These five Superstars would make the rest of the locker room take notice of the talent in NXT.

Honorable Mention: Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens debuted in NXT two months ago and brought a big fan following with him. Since his debut he's been involved with the bigger stars of NXT, attacking Sami Zayn the night he won the NXT Championship.

We've seen Owens go against Zayn and Adrian Neville in fantastic matches, but Owens has worked with these two wrestlers in the past before any of them made it to the WWE.

Now as champion, Owens will get the chance to prove just how good of a wrestler he is as he gets ready to deal with Finn Balor and other potential contenders in the future.

Owens proved Thursday night that he is someone to watch in NXT and will hopefully one day transfer to the main roster. After winning the NXT Championship at TakeOver: Rivals, he now has to make a permanent mark in NXT before making the big transition to Raw and SmackDown.

5: Tyler Breeze

Last year he was feuding with Adrian Neville for the NXT Championship, but after being unable to beat Neville, Breeze fell off NXT for a bit.

He has recently resurfaced in a feud with Hideo Itami, but after being on the top level of NXT for a while, how much longer can Breeze stay in NXT before getting stale?

His feud with Itami has been fantastic, as the two opened NXT TakeOver: Rivals with a great match that set the pace for the rest of the night. Breeze continues to prove his in-ring ability would be a great addition to the main event roster.

He has some resemblance to once-WWE wrestler John Morrison, and his obsession with selfies might be hit or miss with fans in the WWE Universe who already deal with an oversaturation of social media in the WWE.

Still, with his in-ring ability, Breeze could move to the main even roster and be an upgrade over wrestlers like Adam Rose and Fandango. It would be up to the WWE Universe, though, to decide how much it likes Prince Pretty, who has the potential to be a great heel with his obnoxious supermodel gimmick.

4: The Lucha Dragons

Kalisto and Sin Cara make a great tag team and have been displaying their unique in-ring style in NXT for several months now.

After knocking off the Ascension and winning the NXT Tag Team Championships, the Lucha Dragons had a short title run especially when compared to the run the Ascension had before they lost the title to Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy.

And after failing to recapture the tag team titles at NXT TakeOver: Rivals, what’s next for the Lucha Dragons?

A move to the main roster for them would add a great duo to the tag team division, and Kalisto would be another lucha libre wrestler to add to the roster and improve its depth after Rey Mysterio left.

Kalisto and Sin Cara did seem to struggle at Rivals, messing up several moves early on in their match against Blake and Murphy, but these wrestlers have been spot on for the most part.

WWE fans would quickly get behind the high-flying and exciting style of the Lucha Dragons if they were called up to Raw and SmackDown.

3: Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks is the Boss.

Not only did she win the NXT Divas Championship, she dominated in the Fatal 4-Way match at TakeOver.

The match showed the WWE Universe that women’s wrestling can still be relevant, and any of these female competitors would make a great addition to the main Divas division, but Sasha has been putting on solid matches in NXT for a while now.

More specifically, in the months leading up the NXT TakeOver: Rivals, she was putting on fantastic matches with former Divas champion Charlotte and could have easily won the championship earlier than TakeOver.

Besides her excellent in-ring work, her Boss attitude and charisma make her stand out in NXT and would have the same results for her if she were to move to the main roster.

Other Divas like Charlotte and Bayley might be ready for Raw and SmackDown now, but Banks has been ready for the main event scene for months.

She just won the NXT Divas Championship, which was long overdue, but she is also the one Diva in NXT who could handle a main roster move.

2: Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn had a great main event match with Kevin Owens at NXT TakeOver: Rivals, and while Zayn didn't retain his title, he made a point of proving how good of a wrestler he is.

We’ve seen Zayn go against Adrian Neville, Tyler Breeze and now Kevin Owens over the last several months, and even with a short title reign, Zayn has shown how he is one of the top wrestlers in NXT and can put on a great match regardless of his opponent.

His in-ring move set is fantastic, and Zayn has both great aerial and mat moves. He’s an exciting wrestler who could take off on the main roster like Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins have.

Zayn still has time left in NXT as his story with Kevin Owens moves forward. It will hopefully end up being one of the best storylines in NXT history.

Out of every Superstar in NXT, though, Zayn continued to prove at NXT TakeOver why he would be one of the best wrestlers to move to the main roster.

His charisma and dynamic style make him a huge favorite, and his wrestling ability would make the rest of the main roster realize that they need to improve to keep up with the emerging NXT talent.

1: Adrian Neville

After losing the NXT Championship and the No. 1 Contender's tournament, where does Neville go now?

Adrian Neville was the longest-reigning NXT champion, has an amazing finishing move in the Red Arrow and is one of the top wrestlers currently in NXT.

But after losing the NXT Championship to Sami Zayn and then losing the No. 1 contender's match to Finn Balor, what's left for him?

Balor and Neville arguably put on the best match of the night at NXT TakeOver, and Neville showed why he has become one of the best talents in NXT.

He has done it all in NXT, facing talents like Bo Dallas, Tyler Breeze, Sami Zayn, Tyson Kidd and now Finn Balor. And while he's had fantastic matches with all of them, it's time for him to move to Raw and SmackDown and face a whole new group of WWE Superstars.

He more than likely won’t be going back to the NXT Championship scene for a while, which makes now the perfect time for a main roster move.

His high-flying ability is something lacking on Raw and SmackDown right now, and his Red Arrow finisher is enough to leave any fan speechless when he or she sees it for the first time.

Neville's move to the main roster would be bittersweet because NXT would lose one of its top wrestlers, but if any NXT Superstar is going to make the jump, Neville should be first, and now is the perfect time.
