Real Madrid Transfer News: Sami Khedira Addresses Rumours, Alvaro Arbeloa Latest

Gianni VerschuerenFeb 12, 2015

Sami Khedira has refuted rumours he has already agreed to a pre-contract with a Bundesliga club, telling German media he is still weighing his options for the future and emphasising he hasn't made a decision on whether or not he'll leave Real Madrid, per AS:

Speaking to Bild (h/t AS' Manu Sainz), the midfielder elaborated on the reports, while also addressing the recent controversy surrounding his presence at Cristiano Ronaldo's birthday party, which some questioned, given the fact he's currently injured:

"

It's not the case that I have a pre-contract agreement with a Bundesliga club. My future is still undecided and I am keeping my options open. ...

If Cristiano invited me, I think turning up was a sign of respect. And it wasn't a party in truth, just a dinner. I didn't drink all night and I went home at 1:30 a.m.

"

The 27-year-old will be a free agent at the end of the current campaign, and the recent addition of Lucas Silva means Los Blancos are unlikely to extend the World Cup winner.

The Germany international has scarcely played during the 2014-15 season, as he's well down the pecking order and has been hampered by injuries. Even Sainz doesn't like his chances of staying in the Spanish capital:

"

However, it seems inevitable that Real will not renew the German's deal at the club after his disappointing season. Lucas Silva arrived in the January window and Casemiro, who is enjoying a successful loan spell at Porto, will return to the Bernabeu in the summer.

"

Goal's Cristian Nyari thinks Khedira's latest injury couldn't have come at a worse time:

Interest in his services will likely be high once the summer comes around, with several British clubs in need of a class central midfielder and Bundesliga sides also likely to line up to sign the former Stuttgart man.

An extended stay in the Spanish capital looks even more unlikely at this point. Khedira is an excellent player when healthy, but that has become a rarity. With Silva joining an already crowded group of star central midfielders, there simply is no room for a veteran who spends more time on the sidelines than in training.

Alvaro Arbeloa could be following the German out the exit door, according to the Daily Star's Jamie Anderson, as rumours regarding a deal for FC Porto's Danilo continue to intensify.

Marca's Jose Felix Diaz is convinced the 23-year-old full-back will join Los Blancos at the end of the season, which would in turn free up Arbeloa to move elsewhere. The veteran is already little more than a bench option after Daniel Carvajal, and the addition of Danilo could end his spell in Madrid.

Anderson suggests a move to Chelsea, highlighting the 32-year-old's great relationship with former coach Jose Mourinho, but the Spaniard will likely be wanted by a handful of Premier League clubs should he decide he wants a transfer.

One has to assume Real Madrid would love to cash in on the veteran once Danilo arrives, so the idea of a summer transfer seems very likely.
