Nick Young Puts Steve Blake on Skates with Casual Crossover

Dan CarsonFeb 12, 2015

After a week of lamenting the paucity of juice in his swagger reservoir, the Los Angeles Lakers' Nick Young took a step in the right direction with a ruthlessly casual step-back crossover during Wednesday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Young’s victim was former Lakers teammate Steve Blake, who was not prepared for Swaggy P to pull the air brakes while driving to the basket.

He drove, crossed and sunk an easy jumper as Blake went slip-slidin' away.

And thus, fans were treated to an impromptu showing of “Blakes on Ice.”

Conversely, the Lakers went on to receive a 16-point spanking from the Trail Blazers, falling 102-86 and dropping their 40th game of the season.

Teams thrive on swagger, but 4-of-12 shooting nights (Young’s tally for the evening) don’t generally translate to green in the win column. Additionally (and ironically), Young would leave the game late in the third quarter with an apparent ankle injury. He did not return.

“He didn’t seem to be overly concerned about it,” Lakers coach Byron Scott said, per Anne M. Peterson of The Associated Press, via The Washington Times. “I don’t know if he’s going to need treatment the next three or four days or not.”

Keep your head up, Nick. The dolphins can’t get you here.
