Jones Under Investigation After Casino Incident
Wednesday, Feb. 11
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam Jones was reportedly kicked out of an Indiana casino early on Wednesday morning and police were called over the incident, according to reports.
TMZ has more:
"Here's what we know... Police received a call at 12:42 a.m. to report a 'disorderly person' at the Hollywood Casino in Indiana. Officials tell us the Cincinnati Bengals star is being investigated over the incident—however, he was NOT arrested. Multiple witnesses tell us Jones was kicked out of the casino—however, casino officials would not comment on the situation.
"
"I've spoken with Adam and I am 100% confident that he was not involved in activity which violated any laws," Jones agent told TMZ.
Jones later responded for himself in a NSFW post on Instagram.
Jones has played with three different teams in his eight-year NFL career and has found a home with the Bengals, where he's played since 2010. He recorded 63 tackles, a fumble recovery, three interceptions and served as one of the team's primary punt and kick returners, leading the NFL by averaging 31.3 yards per kick return, per ESPN.
While it remains unclear if Jones was involved in any wrongdoing in this incident, the 31-year-old has a long list of run-ins with the law in his past, and both the NFL and Bengals will be paying very close attention to any proceeding investigations.
The Bengals gave Jones a chance when many other organizations may not have. They have young, talented cornerbacks waiting in the wings in Darqueze Dennard and Dre Kirkpatrick, however.
Jones still has a role to play for the Bengals in nickel packages and in the return game, but not if he can't keep himself out of trouble.
