Bray Wyatt Deserves to Fight Undertaker at WWE WrestleMania 2015

Donald WoodFeb 10, 2015

Undertaker is one of the most vaunted wrestlers in the history of the business, but WWE Superstar Bray Wyatt deserves the opportunity to stand toe-to-toe with The Deadman at the 2015 edition of WrestleMania.

Sting vs. Undertaker will have to wait until WrestleMania 32.

After WWE champion Brock Lesnar beat Undertaker at last year’s WrestleMania to end his 21-0 winning streak, there were many fans who believed it would be the end of the road for the legend.

Instead, Wyatt has begun calling out The Deadman, using his subliminal promos and poignant hidden messages. The resulting in-ring battle between the returning Undertaker and Wyatt would add another layer to the legacy of both men.

Wyatt is only 27 years old. His family has a long history in the business, and the sport of wrestling is in his blood. Allowing Wyatt to step in the ring with Undertaker would represent a huge rub, and WWE has expectations that it will help him blossom into one of the top long-term building blocks for the company.

While CM Punk may have wasted the rub he got against Undertaker, Wyatt will not.

The WWE Universe is always complaining about building new stars. The potential match between Wyatt and Undertaker would help ensure that hardcore and casual fans alike view the younger Superstar as the future of the business and on the same level as The Deadman.

As seen from the way he took the loss to Lesnar and in the comments from Vince McMahon on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s podcast, Undertaker is an old-school wrestling mind who truly understands what is best for business.

By taking on Wyatt and making him look like a legitimate star, Undertaker would be once again giving back to the sport.

One of the biggest criticisms of Wyatt has been in-ring work, but he has improved by leaps and bounds since coming into the business. With a unique move set and a body that doesn’t fit the typical WWE mold, Wyatt has become one of the most enigmatic workers in wrestling today.

If you don’t believe Wyatt has grown in the ring, look no further than the exciting set of matches he has put on with Dolph Ziggler over the last two weeks.

He has shown time and time again that he can tell a great story in the ring, and he continues to prove skeptics wrong.

Add in the fact that Wyatt’s slow and methodical pace may be exactly what the older Undertaker needs—he’ll be 50 at WrestleMania 31—and the safe nature of Wyatt’s style is another reason he deserves to work against The Deadman on March 29.

What makes Wyatt so special, though, is his ability to cut some of the creepiest and most entertaining promos imaginable. The character itself breeds a creepy vibe, but it is the almost poetic words of Wyatt that help him transcend the line between heel and face.

Wyatt has an almost supernatural feel to him, and so does Undertaker. The storyline chemistry should be perfect.

After being built as one of the top heels in the company last year, Wyatt was forced into a dead-end feud with John Cena that ultimately led to a loss at WrestleMania. This year, the booking has been much different.

Wyatt looks like one of the strongest wrestlers in the business right now, and win, lose or draw against Undertaker, his legitimacy as a top star would be elevated by just stepping into the ting with a legend of this magnitude.

While some wrestlers would be afraid of the big stage, Wyatt deserves this opportunity and would make the most of it with the best performance of his career.
